Cannes Day Eight - 15 May 2018

Today, we spent the morning begging for two premieres: Solo and Under the Silver Lake. We were unsuccessful in the morning, so we went to go sit on the beach by the pavilions to relax. It was much needed -- this festival is very tiring and I have learned that it is vital to take time to rest during the festival. At 3 pm, we went to the Indian Pavilion to meet with the director of the film, Village Rockstar. It truly was inspiring. She made the film all by herself in the span of four years and is so incredibly bold. The film has been very successful which was very encouraging. We got to ask her a lot of questions and she was kind.
After that, we changed into our formal wear to beg some more. I was not very excited because I was not hopeful about getting a ticket. Within five minutes of standing outside, I got a Solo ticket! Seeing the red carpet premiere was hilarious. There was a bunch of stormtroopers and Chewbacca was out there. It was a really fun premiere to go to and I am glad that I was able to see the film. After that, I went to the American Pavilion for a bit and then headed back to JLP.
