Cannes Day Four - 11 May 2018

Today, I sat in the American Pavilion for a bit to begin my day and catch up on some writings. After that, Mark, Riley, Kennedy, Nina, Abby, and I got in line early at the Miramar Theatre to see a competition feature film named Diamantino that was in Portuguese. It is co-directed by Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt. Both of them were there along with many of the actors and other crew. Before the film began, they all got on stage and a couple of them shared some words about the film and expressed thankfulness and gratitude. The director described the film as "claustrophobic," but not in a bad way -- just in the way it covers so many ideas and concepts into one film. The film was not what I expected at all, but that is totally okay. I went into it thinking it was going to be a serious film from reading the description, but it was a satire. After the film ended, we decided to take a break from begging for tickets as we had done that the past three days.
