Cannes Day Nine - 16 May 2018
Today, I arrived at the festival around 9 in the morning. I went and got Mcdonalds breakfast, which was a very good call. Then, I got in line with four other friends for David Robert Mitchell’s Under the Silver Lake. I went in with absolutely no expectations -- only knowing the title of the film and that Andrew Garfield was starring in the film. It definitely was interesting. I think it definitely could have been one hour shorter, but I did enjoy the experience.
The thing I really liked about Under the Silver Lake is that it fostered conversation literally all day about all the little symbols and deviations from the “plot.” It was very up to interpretation and I think that was the point of the film. After Under the Silver Lake, we got lunch and then headed back to Juan-les-pins to rest. We were planning on going back to Cannes for the beach showing of Grease, but it was supposed to pour rain in Cannes so we decided to stay in Juan.
