Cannes Day Ten - 17 May 2018
Today, we headed to Cannes around 11 to get in line for Leto (Summer) that began at 1:45. It was definitely one of my favorite movies that I have seen during this festival. It is about rock music in the 80's in the Soviet Union and is artfully done in black and white -- with some brief moments of color. The music was incredible, and the ending brought me to tears. I would for sure watch it again. After Leto, we headed to the American Pavilion to go to a Q&A with the director and cinematographer of Under the Silver Lake. It was somewhat informative, but the mediator who asked the questions did not ask very good ones. It was very interesting to hear David Robert Mitchell’s process on writing this film. I will put my notes below from the Q&A so I can look back on them later. After the Q&A, we sat on the beach for a bit until 8pm where there was karaoke at the American Pavilion -- it was definitely worth seeing.
