Cannes Day Twelve - 19 May 2018

Today was the very last day of the festival! It has been such a wonderful experience. I am exhausted, but in the best way possible. I truly do feel like I have learned so much through the movies i’ve seen and the conversations I have had with the other students on this trip.

Today, we got in line around 12pm to see Nadine Labaki’s Capernaum. Once again, I went into this movie with no expectations, and I was blown away. It was truly devastating, and all of us left the theatre in silence -- processing what we just saw. The two child actors were phenomenal and it was so real and relevant. It got a 15 minute standing ovation at the premiere, and I think it was without a doubt deserving of that. It is also one of only three films directed by a woman that was competing for the Palme d’Or. This film was definitely a call to action for us a society to make a change. After the film, we walked to Steak and Shake to get some food. Then, I headed back to Juan. These past twelve days have been so special.
